A New School Year - Hip Hip Hooray!

3rd Sep 2021

Sending a big WELCOME to all the pupils and their families joining P3JH. Mrs Harriott is very pleased to be working with Miss Rogan this year and both of us are looking forward to lots of fun and great learning opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom. Your children have transitioned from Foundation Stage to Key Stage 1 so we eknow that they will need time to adjust to their new place in the school. They are settling into a routine which will get even better as time goes on. The boys and girls have returned to school resplendent in their new uniforms, so THANK YOU for your care and support.

We have completed our first week in school and have spent time revising some P2 Literacy and Numeracy work. Homework will start next week and your child will receive a Booklet on Monday. This has to be completed and returned to school on Friday along with MathSphere, Grow in Love workbooks and reading books. Thursday's homework continues to be online activities.

We have undertaken ORT Word List Assessments and will revisit the reading books which the children have read in P2. However, when they complete the appropriate Running Record Assessments, a decision will be made to either move forward or to remain at the same Stage to reinforce reading skills, phonics and word recognition.

WAU: Our first topic is ALL AROUND US. We started off by going on a Signs of Autumn Walk. The children observed and recorded lots of things in the school grounds. Some photos will be posted on SeeSaw.

PE day is Wednesday. Children are permitted to wear their PE uniform to school. We are also planning to have exciting coaching soon. This will be revealed when it is confirmed!!

HEALTHY BREAK: Water to drink and one item to eat please - fruit, vegetables, cheese, plain crackers, yoghurt, a sandwich. NO NUTS/nut products, as we need to protect our pupils with nut allergies.

UNIFORM: PLEASE ensure that jumpers/cardigans have your child's name on them as they can easily be identified if they are misplaced.

HEALTH and SAFETY: We take great care to ensure that your child's classroom is a safe environment and that we use hand sanitisers and encourage hand washing throughout the school day.

MONEY: Our Office Administrator, Kate, has requested that Monday is the designated day to send in dinner money etc. Please enclose any money in an envelope which states what it is for.

SCHOOL TIMES: Gates are open at 8.40 and children are supervised in their classroom until lessons begin.

Finally (.......At last I hear you say), We are looking forward to sharing lots of fun times and active learning with your children.

Mrs J Harriott
